We’re in a state of fervor at SmartBuyGlasses HQ because we’re literally addicted to all the awards ceremony at the moment. It started with the Golden Globes and has gradually gotten more and more intense with the SAG Awards and the Grammy’s. It’s full on fever-pitch right now as we wait with anticipation for the Oscar’s. As a means to distract ourselves from talking about who was wearing what and whether or not Jennifer Aniston should have been nominated (obviously she should), we’ve put together an eyewears Oscars, judging the eyewear of some of the films from the past year. So without further ado let’s begin the 2015 Eyewear Oscar’s.
Best Pair of Glasses or Sunglasses – Actor
And the nominees are:
And the Winner is:
We’re giving this award to Bradley Cooper and his Wiley X sunglasses that he wears in American Sniper. We gave him this because of the attention to detail. The US military actually gives all of its soldiers this pair of sunglasses as they are pretty much the most durable sunglasses son the market and have even been tested to make sure they’re blast proof. We do still love Colin Firth’s square glasses and Kevin Costner’s brown shades but Bradley Cooper clinched it for us this time.
Best Pair of Sunglasses or Glasses – Actress
And the nominees are:
And the winner is:
This one has to go to Jane Fonda because she’s Jane Fonda. She’s 77, looks smoking hot in this black dress and square shaped glasses and is just basically a living legend. She’s even won the Academy Award before. Twice. I mean I love Rosamund Pike in her Gucci shades and Jessica Chastain in her D&G sunglasses but neither of them come close to the awesomeness that is Jane Fonda.
Best Newcomer
And the nominees are:
And the winner is:
This one was hard but I think Fan Bing Bing just gets first place because she looks so weird. The purple hair, the green contact lenses, the pointy ears. It’s one of things that I don’t really like but I can’t stop looking at. And that’s a good thing. Anthony Mackie was a close a second in those weird goggles and Sarah Snook looks hot in Predestination but I still prefer Fan Bing Bing’s look. And the fact that her name is Fan Bing Bing.
Sexiest Star in Shades
And the nominees are:
And the winner is:
Shocker, Kate Upton is sexy. This one was the easiest ones to pick because she really does have a great pair. Of sunglasses I mean. What else could I be talking about. She’s rocking a pair of oversized…..pilot style sunglasses and manages to put men, women and every other living creature to shame as she runs along a beach. Mark Wahlberg, whilst still managing to be a hottie at 44, just missed out with his square shaped sunglasses. And whilst Cameron Diaz looked hot in these Céline sunglasses, the look overall is a little too prissy for my liking.
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award goes out to the person who has managed to make wearing glasses and sunglasses in films into an art. So much so that they feel the need to wear them at all times, regardless of where they are. This style has even transcended into their real life persona as they cannot stop wearing frames and coloured lenses on the red carpet. The winner is:
Yes, of course. It has to be Johnny Depp. He’s somehow managed to sneak in a a pair of sunglasses or glasses into so many projects and on the red carpet his signature style is some coloured lenses. Let’s take a look back at some of the best Johnny Depp moments.
And this was just with the most basic of basic Google searches, not even including what he’s worn on the red carpet. With some more in depth research I’m sure you can find hundreds more photos.
So that’s our eyewear Oscars over with. Now we’re just waiting for the real thing to come. If, like us you’re looking for things to do while waiting for the Oscars, why not head over to the SmartBuyGlasses website and have your own eyewear Oscars?
Hey,
in your article Kevin Costner is nominated for his sunglasses he was wearing in the movie “Black or White” from 2015. I really could not figure out so far which sunglasses (brand) he has worn. Could you please help me? That would be so fantastic!
Thanks a lot!
