Wimbledon Umpires might be a touch disappointed with the unreliable sunshine this year but at least they will be looking good. As official outfitters for The Championships, Wimbledon, Ralph Lauren® have introduced a new collection of uniforms including sunglasses.
The Wimbledon Collaboration
In its 11th year of collaboration with Wimbledon, Ralph Lauren has redesigned the staff wardrobe which will be on show from June 27 to July 10. The new collection aims to combine the tradition of prestige, elegance and love of the game with more modern fabrics and fits.
While competitors will still be restricted to white dress only, all court officials from ball boys and girls to line umpires will get to don the new uniform at the world’s most prestigious tennis event. Ball persons will be dressed in navy shorts and skorts made with more modern fabrics. In a change from 2011, ball persons will also wear classic style polo shirts, simplifying the previous design featuring a green and purple sash. With timeless white trousers and updated pinstripe navy blazers, however, umpires will be looking the sharpest of all.
A New Addition
For the first time in history however, the All England Club includes a pair of classic shades – perfect for calling faults in style. For chair and line umpires only, these new unisex frames feature dark green undertones and a signature purple Polo Pony logo. Available in a bold plastic style with anti-scratch, reflective and UV protective coatings.
